New SEN team is on the right wavelength

FC Bracknell chairman Neil Graham took to the airwaves today to raise the profile of the area’s newest team.
The club now has a team and football programme for neurodivergent adults and children.

The inclusive team gives players the opportunity to develop social, communication and teamwork skills and enjoy the mental and physical benefits of regular exercise.
The Football For All programme started around six months ago, and the club has now entered a team in the Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Inclusive League.

Neil appeared on Radio Berkshire’s breakfast programme this morning.
And he told presenter Kirsten O’Brien: “We are reducing the barriers to entry in football and allowing these young men to play the game and enjoy sport. We are getting them out and about, and you can see how happy all the players are to be involved.

“The parents of the younger players have told us it is helping them to build their friend network and develop mobility skills and core strength.
“We would like to expand it further to younger age groups and get more women and girls involved as well.”
The team is being supported with funding from Winkfield Parish Council.

Cllr Kevin Buchler told the programme: “Football For All doesn’t only touch the lives of those individuals involved but all their families as well. It is infectious.
“It is making a real difference to people’s lives. It is so positive and inclusive and is helping get people involved in a sport they couldn’t previously play.

“We are hoping what is being done here can be replicated across the country because it can make such a difference to all age groups.”
